7000 out of the 68,000 flight movements at Teuge Airport are now electric
Teuge Airport recently reached an impressive milestone in the world of electric flying. In the past year, no less than 7,000 of the 68,000 flight movements at the airport were electric, which represents more than 10% of the total. These figures show that electric flying is no longer a concept of the future, but a reality of today.
The E-Flight AcademyThe electric flight school located at Teuge has played a significant role in this development. With four Pipistrel Electro's, they fly seven days a week, contributing to these remarkable figures.
Only airport in the Netherlands
Teuge is the only airport in the Netherlands where a substantial part of the flight movements are already electric. The expectation is that this percentage will only increase in the future, given the global efforts for sustainability.
While many airports are in the phase of planning, agreements, and statements of intent regarding electric flying, Teuge Airport is leading the way by showing actual results. These impressive figures are evidence of Teuge Airport's commitment to taking the lead in the sustainability of aviation.
National Growth Fund
Both Teuge airport and E-Flight Academy are members of the Electric Flying Connection (EFC)EFC, an industry association dedicated to promoting electric flying. EFC recently submitted an ambitious plan to the National Growth Fund. This plan, a collaboration of 30 companies within the industry, aims to give electric flying a significant boost in the next seven years.
200 million
With a total project value of 200 million euros, this is one of the largest initiatives to date in the field of electric flying in the Netherlands. Of this amount, EFC has applied for a contribution of 150 million euros from the National Growth Fund.
If the application is approved, this will be a huge boost for the further electrification of aviation. This project not only underscores the ambition of EFC, Teuge Airport, and E-Flight Academy to make the aviation sector more sustainable, but also shows how seriously the Netherlands as a whole is taking this transition to a more sustainable future.
