Revalidate your Single Engine Piston/Power Class Rating at E-Flight Academy.
Who is it for?
Do you have a LAPL or higher? Or are you an airline pilot but your SEP rating is no longer current? Then take the Single Engine Piston Renewal training with us. You'll do the training on our Pipistrel Explorer piston engine, the Bristell B23, or the fully electric Pipistrel Velis.
Please note! It's difficult to determine how many lessons are needed to bring your level up to standard for the exam flight. The numbers mentioned are the minimum. The prices listed are only for the flying portion. Theory lessons are invoiced separately. It's best to first contact us to assess what this training would look like in your situation.
Practical Training
- At least 2 flight lessons of 1 hour on the Pipistrel Explorer or the Bristell B23, or 3 flight lessons of 45 minutes on the Pipistrel Velis.
- Landings charged based on actual costs
- 1 hour aircraft rental (1 flight Virus or possibly 2 flights Velis) for the exam flight (if more time is needed, this will be charged based on actual costs)
- Do you need more lessons? Then you pay per additional lesson based on actual costs.
Theory
During the practical training, theory is also provided. Expect 8 hours of theory with the instructor and 8 hours of home study. During the exam, theoretical knowledge is tested orally by the examiner.
Good to know
- A single engine class rating can be obtained on an electric model or a fuel model. If you want to be able to fly both variants, we recommend first obtaining a SEP class rating on the fuel model and then doing the E-conversion to our electric model. This is because no exam is required for the E-conversion. If you choose to obtain the SEP class rating on an electric aircraft, you are not automatically allowed to fly a fuel model afterward and vice versa.
- For a SEP class rating, you already need a valid LAPL or PPL. A higher license such as CPL or ATPL is also acceptable.
- For LAPL holders, in addition to the 'dual' SEP practical training, 10 solo takeoffs and landings must be made under supervision of the instructor. For this, a flight of one and a half hours is planned (Virus) or two flights of 45 minutes (Velis). Let us know if this applies to you.
- You must have a medical certificate of at least class 2.
- The examiner and examination costs are not included in the price (expect around 250 euros for an examiner). Landing fees during the exam are also not included. These will be charged after the exam.
- The practical program described above is the minimum number of hours. Depending on the individual, more training may be needed.
- If you are allowed to fly both piston and electric after the training, you must maintain validity for both. Unfortunately, there is no 'cross-crediting' in the legislation for this.
- If you have ever had a SEP but let it expire and want to make it valid again, please contact us for more information. This also applies if you need to make a training flight for 'revalidation'. Often a customized syllabus is possible.
- You are responsible for applying for the license change at KIWA. We will help you get started.
